Create a media bucket and upload files

Media Buckets are object storage set up for serving files to the web, with a simple interface anyone can use. Manage them under Media Buckets.

Create the bucket

  1. Open Media Buckets and click New Media Bucket.
  2. Fill in:
    • Name: a short, lowercase name; it appears in the file's web address.
    • Region: the region closest to your audience.
    • Access: public if the files are meant for the open web (a site's images and downloads), private if not.
  3. Create it. It is ready immediately.

Upload files

  1. Open the bucket.
  2. Drag files onto the uploader, or click to browse and select them. Large files upload directly and securely.
  3. Each file gets a delivery link you can copy and paste into a web page or share with someone.

You are billed for what you store and what is downloaded, which is far cheaper than serving large files from a Cloud Server. To serve files from your own domain, see Share media and use a custom domain.
