Migrate to Gewape Cloud
Migrate brings existing servers into Gewape Cloud from another cloud or a VMware environment, so you do not have to
rebuild them by hand. You manage it under Migrate in the console, and moving your data in is free.
How it works
You point Migrate at a source, it inventories the machines, copies their disks, converts them to run here, and boots
them as Cloud Servers in the region you choose. It only ever reads the source, so your original systems keep running and
are never changed.
What it can move from
- VMware (via vCenter)
- AWS, Azure, and GCP
When to use it
- Moving off another provider to be closer to your users or to keep data in-region.
- Lifting VMware machines into the cloud without rebuilding them.
- Consolidating scattered workloads into one place.
Good to know before you start
- Migrate needs read access to the source (read-only cloud credentials, or vCenter access).
- One conversion runs at a time, so a batch is a queue; larger disks take longer.
- A migrated server that boots is not always reachable yet, because our hardening can block password SSH on fresh
Linux images. Use a key or reset access rather than assuming it failed.

Ingress is free, so bringing workloads in costs nothing in data transfer. You pay only for the Cloud Servers once they
are running.
